National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies, France

The National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies, abbreviated INSEE, is the French national statistics bureau. It collects and publishes information about the French economy and people, and carries out the periodic national census. Headquartered in Paris, it is the French branch of Eurostat. The INSEE was created in 1946 as a successor to the Vichy regime's National Statistics Service (SNS).

      Regional gross domestic products are prepared in accordance with the European System of Accounts 2005 and 2010. National GDP and national value added concern all resident units within the French economic territory: Metropolitan France and overseas departments (Dom) The accounts of overseas departments ( Dom ) are much more comprehensive than the accounts of metropolitan areas. They are established by service INSEE in Dom . Regional economic indicators metropolitan areas (GDP and added values) resulting from the regionalization of metropolitan indicators from distribution keys. The GDP and metropolitan added values ​​of each branch are equal to the difference between the entire data France (established in early May each year) and data Dom. Regional data are thus consistent with the national data.
