Burglary rate of India jumped by 11.02% from 7.4 cases per 100,000 population in 2012 to 8.2 cases per 100,000 population in 2013. Since the 3.30% reduction in 2010, burglary rate surged by 11.32% in 2013.

“Burglary” means gaining unauthorised access to a part of a building/dwelling or other premises; including by use of force; with the intent to steal goods (breaking and entering). “Burglary” should include; where possible; theft from a house; appartment or other dwelling place; factory; shop or office; from a military establishment; or by using false keys.
