Edison Trends data is owned directly by Edison Software. The source of the data are Edison’s consumer apps, Edison Mail and Edison Assistant. Only with our users explicit consent (for more information, read our privacy policy), do our apps access and process certain email messages to provide services to users for free and to help us aggregate anonymized purchase data offered in our Edison Trends product. Our AI technology differentiates between personal emails and commercial emails to provide these services. The data gathering process is automated with support from Edison’s engineering and data science teams.
Our apps collect and store information from commercial messages such as promotions and receipts. We classify and extract meaningful meta-data from any structured email, and always remove any information that identifies an individual personally (emails, names, addresses). We aggregate the data for research about ecommerce trends or allow the data to be used only for aggregate reports.
