Our channel checking methodology is differentiated in that it includes the consistent, frequent and detailed tracking of data by channel checkers located in 10 regions across the country. Consistent and frequent store visits allow the checkers to become familiar with each location, enabling them to identify changes and catch inflection points. For brand (vendor) checks, A-Line Partners tracks multiple points of distribution including retail stores, department stores, off-price and outlet. We also “close the loop” with web data analytics and focus groups.
Regions for the Retail Consultant program were designated on U.S. Census Demographics (uscensus.gov) information, targeting cities with the highest population growth overall and by age range. Malls within each region include variances in trading area demographics and retail coverage.
Retail Consultants visit three regular price malls per week and one outlet mall every other week. For the regular price mall visits, two mall visits occur on the busiest days of the week: Thursday, Friday or Saturday, and one occurs on an alternate day to monitor post or pre-weekend activities. Data collected at every visit includes but is not limited to, observations on traffic and inventory levels, promotional activity, pricing, general “directional” feedback from customers and store level associates, and product commentary.
