History

Quarterly data is normally provided going back 20 years, which should cover the patent validity period. Historical data can be provided.

PatentStacker provides data on a quarterly basis.  Data can be refreshed on a weekly basis.

The most common theme covered by patents would be sustained investments and focus within very specific technologies.

Known Biases

Many small countries issue updates irregularly, or the data is unobtainable.
